LF Books India is an independent publishing house with 15 years of experience in Indian publishing. We work with writers who believe in originality, discipline, and meaningful literary engagement.

Why We Publish

Many talented writers fail to receive proper support due to unclear policies and weak publishing systems. LF Books India exists to offer writers a clear, structured, and professional publishing platform, grounded in ethical practices and long-term literary value.

Poetry Policy

• General poetry collections are not published
• Children’s rhymes are accepted
• Exceptional poetry considered only in rare cases

Book Proposal Submission

(Only for important translation, research, or highly unconventional works)

• Important Bengali ↔ English translations
• Serious research-based works
• Highly unconventional manuscripts

Routine or general manuscripts should not be submitted at the proposal stage.

Proposal Must Include

• Detailed synopsis explaining importance of the work
• Sample content:
  • Novel / Non-Fiction: 2 chapters
  • Short Story Collection: 4 complete stories
• Author biography & photo
• Previous publications (if any)
• Estimated total word count

Response Time: 10–90 days

Minimum Word Count

• Fiction: Around 40,000 words
• Non-Fiction: Around 30,000 words

Review Process & Editorial Policies

• 5-member In-House Selection Committee
• Review period: 7–11 months
• No lobbying or personal recommendations
• Editorial decisions are final

Compensation & Publishing Terms

• Honorarium for selected works
• No standard advance or token money
• 10 complimentary copies
• All publishing & marketing costs borne by LF Books India
• Annual royalty payment (₹2,000 minimum)

Important Dates

• Kolkata Book Fair publication: Manuscript by 31 March (previous year)
• Magazine submissions close: 31 December
• Main annual submission call: March only
